PSRI's liaison scientist Bob Nagler moves to LCLS
The Photon Science Department of STFC, in collaboration with the Photon Science Research Institute has appointed Bob Nagler as liaison scientist and access facilitator to the soon to be up and running 4th generation light source LCLS at Stanford in the United States. Bob will be based in Stanford from the beginning of September 2009, when the first user groups will be performing experiments at LCLS.
His position strengthens STFC's and PSRI's strategy to enable the UK scientific community to gain access and utilize the new, emerging generation of 4th generation light sources. He will be the local contact person to assist and support UK experimental teams propose, plan and carry out experiments on the new facility.
Bob Nagler has a background in High Power Lasers and fast X-ray physics, with research experience both at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Oxford University. His own research interest are situated in the High Energy Density Physics and Warm Dense Matter sciences, but he is available to help all UK academics use LCLS, whatever their scientific interests.
He can be contacted with any queries about the LCLS machine and beam time application process.
