PSRI Sponsors UK Scientists at the PULSE Ultrafast X-ray Summer School

PSRI sponsors UK scientists at the LCLS Summer School

Fully-funded bursaries from the PSRI enabled 9 young UK researchers to attend the PULSE summer school on ultrafast x-rays, held at Stanford, from 17th to 20th June.

The institutions represented were the Universities of Oxford, Birmingham, York, Liverpool, QUB, and Imperial College. Also attending was Professor Justin Wark, Chief Scientist of the PSRI, who was lecturing at the school.

The students, postdoctoral workers, and young lecturers spent the week at SLAC, and toured the new free electron laser, LCLS, which is currently under construction, and scheduled to produce first light early next spring.
